NOTES: This is Genoa’s sixth straight playoff appearance while the Titans have been in the postseason eight straight years. … Senior running back Kyle Nutter rushed for 187 yards on 13 carries in last week’s 42-21 first-round playoff win over Columbus Bishop Ready. Nutter has rushed for more than 2,200 yards for a high-flying Comet offense averaging more than 50 points per game. … Kyle’s younger brother David Nutter added 142 yards rushing on 18 carries last week against Ready. … The Titans and Comets have one common opponent. Ottawa-Glandorf beat Fostoria 62-7 at home in Week 1. Three weeks later, the Comets blasted the Redmen 58-7 to open play in the Northern Buckeye Conference. … Ottawa-Glandorf running back Tristan Parker has rushed for 1,754 yards on 219 carries with 24 touchdowns to lead a Titan offense that is averaging more than 46 points per game. … Titans’ quarterback Caleb Siefker has rushed for 1,078 yards on 137 carries with 17 touchdowns. He is also 67 of 131 passing for 872 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. … Logan Diemer and Wyatt Karhoff lead the Titans defensively with 77 and 73 tackles respectively. Karhoff has also added six quarterback sacks. … Genoa has won both past meetings with the Titans. Genoa edged Ottawa-Glandorf 7-6 in an opening round game in 2010 and beat the Titans 40-21 in the regional final in 2008.

NOTES: Interesting second-round matchup between the Northwest Conference champion Thunderbirds and the Eagles, the runners-up in the Blanchard Valley Conference. Last season, the Eagles stunned LCC, the No. 1 ranked team in the final Associated Press poll 45-35 in the opening-round. …The defense stepped up big for Liberty-Benton in the Eagles’ opening-round 16-7 win over Liberty Center forcing four second-half turnovers. … The Eagles will have to step it up on offense this week against Lima Central Catholic as it picked up just 114 yards passing and 73 rushing. … The Thunderbirds, meanwhile, had an easy time in the first round with a 42-14 win over Western Reserve. But LCC certainly has room for improvement too as it beat the Roughriders last week despite committing five turnovers.
EXTRA POINT: The Thunderbirds have waited a year for another shot at the Eagles. In fact ,L-B was mentioned twice by coaches or players in the postgame comments in last week’s game story.

Banyasz accounted for 440 yards of offense in last week’s 39-34 playoff win over Archbold. The Patriots dropped a 51-22 decision to Archbold in Week 8. … Columbia won the Patriot Athletic League Stripes Division as the Raiders have reeled off 10 straight wins after a 22-15 season-opening loss to Cleveland Central Catholic.

McComb used a second-half burst to eventually pull away from the Senecas for a 48-21 win in the season opener. … The Panthers lead the all-time series against the Senecas 6-3 … McComb’s Jerry Brown scored a pair of second-half touchdowns and rushed for 177 yards on 25 carries in the Panthers’ 14-0 win over Arlington Friday night. … Last week was McComb’s fifth shutout of the season … McComb will be facing a Tiffin Calvert offense that seems to be firing on all cylinders after last week’s 56-27 win over Norwalk St. Paul. Sophomore quarterbackkTyler Long rushed the ball 20 times for 191 yards and four touchdowns, while senior fullback Daniel Kwiat added 223 yards on 26 attempts and a score. The Senecas rushed for a total of 504 yards against the Flyers.

NOTES: St, Henry enters the game with a four-game winning streak … Starkey led St. Henry to state championships in 2004 and 2006. … St. Henry’s offense racked up almost 400 yards in Friday’s 45-21 win over Fort Loramie. St. Henry quarterback Kyle Stahl led the way completing 22-of-28 passes for 219 yards with three touchdown passes while also rushing for 76 yards. … Adam Reichert carried the ball nine times for 98 yards and two scores while snagging five passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Bender had five receptions for 85 yards with Tyler Schwieterman added 48 receiving yards on seven catches last week to lead the Redskins. …Ada’s Mason Acheson threw four touchdown passes Friday night to power the Bulldogs to an easy 50-15 win over Waynesfield-Goshen. He was 18 of 22 passing for 343 yards. … The Bulldogs’ Jacob Ansley caught six passes for 123 yards while NWC Back of the Year Kellen Decker carried the ball nine times for 103 yards and a pair of scores.
EXTRA POINT: The Bulldogs and Redskins have never played in the postseason, they did play one another during the regular season in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
