UF Post-Game Audio: Oilers vs. Yellow Jackets
By BRIAN LESTER
The University of Findlay men’s basketball team won its first game of the year on Saturday, knocking off Cedarville 74-65 at Croy Gymnasium.
Greg Kahlig scored 23 points to pace the Oilers, who led 31-30 at halftime and limited the Yellow Jackets to only two field goals in the final eight minutes of the game.
Brad Piehl poured in 18 points. UF (1-1) shot 39.1 percent from the floor and was 35-of-40 from the free-throw line. CU (1-3) was held to 37.9 percent shooting.
After the game, I talked with Greg Kahlig, Mark Frilling and head coach Charlie Ernst. Click on the links below to listen to the interviews.
Forward Greg Kahlig: The junior shot 7-of-10 from the field en route to his 23-point performance. He also grabbed six rebounds and shot 8-of-10 from the free-throw line as he led UF in scoring for the second consecutive game.
Forward Mark Frilling: Frilling scored only 5 points but he played a key role defensively for the Oilers. The junior grabbed five rebounds and blocked two shots. He altered a few other shots as well to help spark UF on defense.
Head Coach Charlie Ernst: Ernst guided UF to its first win of the season. He is now 25-8 in his time as the head coach of the Oilers.
