UF Post-Game Audio: Oilers vs. Lakers

By BRIAN LESTER

The University of Findlay men’s basketball team won its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener on Thursday night, rolling to an 85-63 win over Lake Superior State at Croy Gymnasium.

The Oilers won their third consecutive game as they shot 50 percent (31-of-62) from the field and drilled 10 shots from beyond the arc.

UF (3-1, 1-0 GLIAC) got 19 points from Jack Smith while Greg Kahlig scored 15 points. Brad Piehl poured in 12 points and Aaron Robinson clicked for 10.

After the game, I had a chance to talk with Smith, Khalig and head coach Charlie Ernst. Click on the links below to listen to the post-game interviews.

UF Forward Jack Smith: The senior sixth man poured in 19 points, tying his career high, and also pulled down four rebounds. He shot 8-of-11 from the field and dished out two assists while tallying one steal.

UF Forward Greg Kahlig: The junior scored in double figures for the third consecutive game, dropping in 15 points, and he also had six rebounds and two assists. Kahlig also blocked two shots.

UF Head Coach Charlie Ernst: The second-year head coach is now 27-8 in his career as he guided the Oilers to a win in their conference opener. Ernst has a 15-5 record against GLIAC opponents.
