The University of Findlay men’s basketball team closed out the first week of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with an 84-72 win over Northwood University on Saturday afternoon at Croy Gymnasium.
The Oilers shot 50 percent from the field and got 27 points from Greg Kahlig as they won their fourth consecutive game.
UF (4-1, 2-0 GLIAC) rang up 10 3-pointers and tallied 18 assists en route to the win over the Timberwolves.
After the game, I had a chance to talk with Kahlig, Aaron Robinson, Jack Smith and head coach Charlie Ernst.
UF Forward Greg Kahlig: The junior star scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive game, dropping in 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting. He drilled five 3-pointers and was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. He also pulled down three rebounds and dished out two assists.
UF Guard Aaron Robinson: Robinson scored 10 points and pulled down six rebounds in the win. He was 3-of-3 from the line. The senior also dished out three assists.
UF Forward Jack Smith: Smith came off the bench and finished with 7 points. The senior also grabbed a rebound and tallied two steals.
UF Head Coach Charlie Ernst: Ernst guided the Oilers to their fourth consecutive win and is now 28-8 in his second year as the head coach. He is 16-5 against GLIAC opponents in the regular season.
