Wauseon will be seeking its fourth straight title in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League Wrestling Championships on Saturday, February 2 at Delta High School.
The Indians claimed last year’s tournament title with 255.5 points while runner-up Archbold finished with 220 points.
Should the Indians make it four in a row, they’ll equal Delta (1996-99) and Napoleon (1961-64) of having won four consecutive league tournament titles.
Napoleon currently holds the longest consecutive title streak in the NWOAL wrestling tournament having won it five straight times from 1966-1970.
Returning to defend their individual league titles are Kyle Keller of Delta (106); Wade Hodges of Wauseon (113); Zach Morrow of Wauseon (120); Zach Niner of Liberty Center (132); Tyler Fahrer of Delta (145); Wes Walter of Bryan (170); Alec Vonier of Wauseon (182); Travis Jaramillo of Archbold (195); and Zane Krall of Wauseon (220).
Action gets underway at 10 a.m. with the finals scheduled one hour following the last consolation match. Results of the NWOAL Championships can be found on www.trackwrestling.com.
