Prep Diving: Findlay duo qualifies for state

BOWLING GREEN — Bethany Glick was second and Kyah Fleckner fourth as both Findlay High divers qualified for state with strong performances in Tuesday’s Division I district competition at Bowling Green State University.
Glick punched her ticket to state for the third straight year. The FHS junior posted a score of 420.40 points in the 1-meter event, less than five points behind the 425.10 total of Strongsville sophomore Julia Oppedisano.
Fleckner, a freshman, was fourth with a score of 388.85 for the 11 dives. Findlay High’s Amanda Robinson finished in 20th place (209.85).
The top six girls and top seven boys qualify for the state meet in Canton next week. Glick and Fleckner will compete in the Division I girls state diving competition at 9 a.m. on Thursday at C.T. Branin Natatorium at Canton McKinley High School.
It was a rough day for Findlay’s male divers in the Division I boys meet where seven divers advanced.
Price Anders led the way by finishing 16th with a score of 309.65. Teammates Marquis Ramsey (234.8) and Caleb Aho (228.3) were next in 17th and 18 place respectively. Chris Wohl was 23rd with 132.35 points.
Toledo St. John’s Mitchell Layman won the event with 452.25 points.
The Division II boys and girls competition takes placed today at Bowling Green State University.
The swimming championships are set for Friday for Division II swimmers and Saturday for Division I.
