CANTON — In her third trip to the OHSAA Division I girls state diving championships, Findlay High School’s Bethany Glick posted her best finish ever.
Glick and teammate Kyah Fleckner both earned all-Ohio honors for the Trojans Saturday morning in the Division girls diving competition at C.T. Branin Natatorium.
Glick was ninth in the 24-diver field while Fleckner finished 15th overall to lead the Trojans on the first day of competition for area athletes in Canton.
Glick, a junior who finished 12th at state as a sophomore and 11th her freshman year, was steady on Thursday.
She was sitting ninth (184.9) after the preliminary round dives moved up to eighth (301.05) after the semifinal round and ended up ninth with 41.9.55 points.
Fleckner, was 11th (183.45) after the prelims, 14th (291.5) after the semifinals and finished in 15th after posting a score of 396.2.
Powell Olentangy Liberty’s Olivia Ball defended her state title by winning the event with 461.75 points.
Findlay High School’s boys swimmers will compete in the Division I preliminaries Friday beginning at 9 a.m.
Area Division II swimmers from Ada and Fostoria will compete in their preliminary races today beginning at 5 p.m.
