Prep Schedule & Updates: 01-13-14

There are four prep basketball games on the local sports schedule tonight and we’ll have the latest for you here at The Courier.
Three girls games are on the slate as Bluffton visits Paulding in a Northwest Conference game.
In nonconference action, Findlay travels to Anthony Wayne and Patrick Henry hosts Holgate.
Continental hosts Antwerp in a nonconference boys game tonight. We’ll have scores and stories on all of the action later tonight on The Courier’s sports weblog, The Blanchard River Buzz.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Anthony Wayne stops Findlay
WHITEHOUSE — Anthony Wayne doubled its lead quarter by quarter on Monday when the Generals used a fast start and a barrage of 3-pointers to cruise to a 48-28 win over Findlay High in a nonleague girls basketball machup.
Victoria Burdo drilled three of Anthony Wayne’s five 3-pointers and led the Generals with 15 points. Jasmine Bonivel had a 3-pointer among her 12 points in helping Anthony Wayne (10-3) lead 12-6 in the first quarter, 29-15 at the half and 44-22 after three periods.
Jacey Hardesty had a team-high nine points for Findlay. Zoe Swisher added seven points for the Trojans, who dropped their eighth straight game and dipped to 1-10 overall.

HAMLER — Holgate broke open a close game Monday with an 18-11 edge in third quarter en route to a 55-40 victory over Patrick Henry in a nonconference girls basketball game.
Kristin Bostelman led Patrick Henry (1-10) with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Bailey Brown scored seven points and Alyson Prigge six.
Marissa Myers led four Holgate players in double digits with 14 points. Mattie Grim and Sarah Niese each scored 12 points, and Rachel Desgranges added 10 for the Tigers (11-1).

CONTINENTAL — Antwerp outscored Continental 22-7 in the first and third quarters combined Monday night and held off a late rally by the Pirates to earn a 48-42 nonconference victory.
The Archers (5-5) were 17 of 30 (57 percent) from the field and 11 of 13 (85 percent) from the foul line.
Despite trailing 35-20 entering the fourth quarter, Continental fought back into the contest with a 22-13 advantage in the final period.
Kaden Brumett led Antwerp with 14 points, Sam Williamson dropped in 13 and Trenton Copsey added 12.
The Pirates (3-8) got 12 points and two steals from Wade Stauffer and Gabe Williams finished with 10.
