Prep Softball Roundup: Upper Sandusky blasts Hopewell-Loudon

UPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky banged out 43 runs on 44 hits in 23-4 and 20-8 victories against Hopewell-Loudon on Saturday.
Sara Gier was the winning pitcher in both contests as the Rams improved to 3-1 on the season.
Maranda Stansberry notched six singles, a double and two triples on the day, while Justeen Searfoss recorded six singles, Kelsi Knapp had three singles, a double and a triple and Jaya Smalley added four singles for Upper Sandusky.
Shelbi Sauber singled and tripled, while Makayla Wilson and Emma Kirby each contributed a pair of singles for the Chieftains (1-2).

BUCYRUS — Ali Rymer and Sydney Wentling picked up complete-game wins for Carey as the Blue Devils swept a doubleheader with Wynford on Saturday.
Rymer had seven strikeouts and one walk for the Blue Devils in the first game. After trailing 2-1 at the end of the first inning, Carey came back with two runs in both the second and third innings to take control.
Taylor Fletcher had a triple, single and an RBI in the second game to lead Carey at the plate, while Wentling struck out five and allowed five hits.

ARLINGTON — Britnee Johnson allowed just five hits in two nonleague games against Kalida on Saturday as Arlington swept the Wildcats to pick up its first two victories of the season.
Britnee Johnson singled, doubled and drove in three runs, Megan Johnson added a single, a triple and an RBI and Hannah Johnson hit a single to go with two RBIs as the Red Devils won the first game 10-0 in five innings.
Aaliyah Comstock singled twice and had three RBIs, Britnee Johnson contributed two singles and two RBIs and Shayna Helms recorded a single and drove in two runs in a 9-5 victory for Arlington (2-0).
Laine Laudick had a pair of singles to lead Kalida (1-2).

ADA — Ada took advantage of three Cory-Rawson errors and plated four runs on just two hits to win a 4-1 nonconference decision on Saturday.
Alexis Amburgey went the distance, allowing one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks to improve her record and the Bulldogs’ to 3-0 on the season.
Kaylee Spangler singled and drove in two runs, while Ashley Windle had a single and an RBI for Ada.
The Hornets (0-3) were led by Mikaela Ricksecker, who tripled and singled, and Jordan Hector added a single and an RBI.
