Prep Softball Roundup: Hernandez fans 13 as NB drops Hardin Northern

NORTH BALTIMORE — Cheyenne Hernandez whiffed 13 Hardin Northern batters Thursday to lead North Baltimore to a 10-1 victory in a nonconference softball game.
Hernandez also had two hits and two RBIs as the Tigers improved to 5-6. Hayleigh Fleck singed, doubled twice and drove in three runs, and Hanna Brian had three singles.
Addy Bame doubled and drove in a run for Hardin Northern (6-3).

ARLINGTON — Kasey Adelsperger singled three times, while Taylor McClain and MacKenzie Sowers each added a triple and a single as Mohawk rolled past Arlington 11-0 in a six-inning nonconference matchup.
Hannah Kieffer doubled and singled and Julie Adelsperger recorded a pair of singles as the Warriors improved to 9-2 on the season.
Britnee Johnson smacked a triple for one of four hits for the Red Devils (10-3).

FOSTORIA — Hannah Morris’ single in the top of the 10th inning scored Aricka Hill and Riverdale edged Fostoria St. Wendelin 8-7 in a marathon nonconference matchup.
Taylor Farmer worked 10 innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits to pick up the win in the circle, and added two singles and three RBIs at the plate. Julia Naus hit a pair of doubles and drove in a run and Jordyn Wright contributed a single and an RBI for the Falcons (8-7), who rallied to win after falling behind 7-0.
Courtney Babb recorded two singles and three RBIs, Edy Mowrey singled and added two RBIs, while Allie Rutter and Sammie Digby each notched a single and an RBI for St. Wendelin (4-7).

MILLER CITY — Maddie Pape did just about everything for Liberty-Benton’s softball team as the Eagles topped Miller City 13-10 in 10 innings.
At the plate, Pape smashed two home runs, doubled and singled. And if that wasn’t enough, the junior pitched all 10 innings and struck out 10 batters.
Liberty-Benton scored three runs in the top of the tenth, including a two-run home run from Mica Terrian, to improve to 5-7. Samantha Anders had four hits, including a double, as the Eagles racked up 16 hits.
Cassie Niese ripped three singles, and Kylee Ricker doubled and singled, for Miller City (4-5).

NEW RIEGEL — Shoddy defense cost New Riegel as the Blue Jackets fell 4-2 to Oak Harbor in a nonleaguegame.
All four runs allowed by New Riegel pitcher Taylor Kirian were unearned. Kirian singled, doubled and drove in a run, and Lauren Zoeller had two singles and an RBI for the Blue Jackets (12-3).
Justine Webb and Emma Vidal each had two hits and an RBI for Oak Harbor (9-4).

UPPER SANDUSKY — A five-run first inning gave Upper Sandusky a comfortable margin and the Rams rolled to a 10-0 victory in a nonconference game.
Upper (9-4) banged out 13 hits in the win, including a triple by Justeen Searfoss. Maranda Stansbery, Sara Gier and Kyla Cusac each had two hits. Gier and Cusac also shared the shutout in the circle.

BLUFFTON — Convoy Crestview blasted three home runs and scored all of its runs on two-out hits as the Knights knocked off Bluffton 8-4 in a Northwest Conference softball game on Thursday.
Kirstin Hicks, Mackenzie Riggenbach and Brady Guest each homered for Convoy Crestview (9-5, 5-0 NWC). Hicks also picked up the win, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits in seven innings pitched.
Abbie Parkins tripled and singled twice while driving in four runs for Bluffton (6-2, 2-2 NWC). Olivia Hunt hit three singles and scored two runs.

KANSAS — Rebecca Harvey smacked a two-run triple as part of a four-run fifth inning for Elmwood as the Royals rallied to beat Lakota 5-3 in a nonleague contest.
Chelsie Schmitz singled twice and drove in a pair of runs and Madison Arnold hit two singles and added an RBI for Elmwood (10-3).
Benschoter singled twice and picked up the win in the circle by allowing one hit in five innings of work.
Sam Miller had a 3-run home run in the second inning to lead Lakota (8-3).

BASCOM — Hopewell-Loudon scored 11 runs in the first inning and collected 19 hits in the game as the Chieftains crushed Vanlue 19-9 in six innings.
Kelsey Coppus and Gabby Gregg each had two singles and a double, and both combined for six RBIs for Hopewell-Loudon (2-12). Shelbi Sauber and Abby Park combined for three triples, a double and four RBIs.
Kate Clymer doubled twice, singled and drove in two runs for Vanlue (4-9), and Sami Hausserman had two singles and three RBIs while picking up the loss in the circle.

Micah Stechschulte doubled twice and also singled, while Brooke Hoffman notched a single and an RBI and Brianna Glass contributed a double for Columbus Grove (6-4, 4-1 NWC).
Ashley Windle homered and drove in a pair of runs for Ada (9-4, 0-4).
