Prep Softball Roundup: Hardin Northern drops Arlington, 5-2

DOLA — Addy Bame hit a two-run home run in the third inning and allowed two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks in seven innings as Hardin Northern knocked off Arlington 5-2 in a battle of top Blanchard Valley Conference teams.
With the victory, the Polar Bears (8-5, 6-1 BVC) are now tied with Arlington (13-4, 7-1 BVC) and Arcadia (11-6, 6-1 BVC) for first place in the conference. Hardin Northern and Arcadia face off May 14.
Lea Rowe singled three times and drove in two runs, Michaela Curtis recorded two doubles and Taylir Schiewe had a single and an RBI for the Polar Bears.
Arlington was led by Britnee Johnson, who tripled, singled and drove in a run. Dani Heaster added a triple and Allie Sheldon contributed a single and an RBI.

ARCADIA — Courtney Cramer went 4 for 4 at the plate, smacking two singles and two doubles to go with three RBIs as Arcadia pounded Vanlue 12-1 in a five-inning Blanchard Valley Conference contest on Monday.
Ashley Baird (11-5) picked up the win in the circle, allowing one unearned run on two hits with four strikeouts and no walks in five innings. She also aided her own cause with three singles and three RBIs.
Maddie Mock singled, doubled and drove in four runs, Lizzie Coward added a triple and a single and Megan Hill recorded a double, a single and an RBI for Arcadia (11-6, 6-1 BVC).
Kate Clymer and Grace Wagner each notched a single for Vanlue (5-11, 3-5).

VAN BUREN — Samantha Hagans had a big day at the plate with a single, double and four RBIs Monday as Van Buren thumped Pandora-Gilboa 14-3 in a Blanchard Valley Conference softball game.
Paige Sudlow had two singles and two RBIs for the Black Knights (10-10, 5-3 BVC). Nichole Mille struck out seven to get the win in the circle, and had two hits and an RBI at the plate.
Anna Abelovska singled and drove in a run for the Rockets (2-9, 2-6 BVC).

Mikaela Ricksecker doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Bre Wellington had a two-run triple, Katie Henry doubled in a run and Brittney Roth singled and drove in a run. Taylor Marshall had two base hits for the Hornets (3-11, 1-6 BVC).
Alexis Miller’s pair of singles were two of five hits for McComb (3-16, 1-7).

Alison Imbrock improved to 10-0 in the circle and got plenty of run support early as the Patriots jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings.
Rachel Nye tripled and had a pair of RBIs for Patrick Henry (15-3, 5-3 NWOAL).
Liberty Center (2-16, 1-8) had only three hits, while committing five errors in the contest.

Tiffany Welty recorded a double and a single, while Cassilyn Niese and Jessica Vennekotter each singled twice for Miller City (8-5, 3-0 PCL).
Alex Quigley and McKenna Scott each notched three singles, while Kiana Warnement and Emily Logan had a double and single apiece for Continental (5-7, 1-1).

Hannah Martin doubled and Cameil Ruffing drove in a run for Seneca East (10-9, 3-3 MAL).

MILLBURY — Lindsay George had four hits, including a second-inning grand slam, and three other Elmwood players had three hits each as the Royals routed Lake 18-2 in a Northern Buckeye Conference softball game on Monday.
George added three singles to her grand slam and drove in six runs. Madison Arnold, who plated four runs with a double and two singles, Miranda Benschoter (2-1B, 3B) and Olivia Myers (3-1B) had three hits each as Elmwood improved to 13-3 overall, 5-1 in the NBC and remained in a virtual tie for first place with Woodmore (11-2, 6-1) and Eastwood (13-1, 4-1).
Benschoter also got the win inside the circle, allowing just three hits while striking out 10 Lake (8-12, 3-5 NBC) batters.

Sara Gier and Jaya Smalley had two singles each and Kalene Johnson doubled for Upper Sadusky, 12-5 overall and 8-2 in NCC play. Alexus Burkhart had a pair of doubles for Colonel Crawford (6-11, 2-7 NCC).

Findlay High’s offense, defense and pitching got stronger as the game wore on Monday when the Trojans chalked up a 6-3 Three Rivers Athletic Conference softball win over Lima Senior.
Lima Senior forged an early 3-1 lead against Findlay starter Macy Bowling and the Trojans. Bowling limited the Spartans (1-15, 0-9 TRAC) to just three total hits, though, and pitched shut out ball over the final four innings.
Findlay’s offense also got cranking. Shelby Roether belted two doubles and scored twice and Libby Crow had a single, a double and drove in two runs as the Trojans (5-16, 3-5 TRAC) tied the game in the bottom of the third inning, then took charge with a three-run rally in the fifth.

Edy Mowrey doubled twice, added three more singles and drove in three runs as the Mohawks outhit the Tigers 17-10.
Krystal Krout singled and plated two runs while Allie Rutter added two singles and an RBI.
Winning pitcher Meghan Reiter doubled and singled twice and Mikayla Gilliland tripled and singled twice.
Cortney Babb also singled and drove in a run for the Mohawks (6-9, 1-3 MAL).
Makalya Rein led North Baltimore (5-10, 1-4) with two doubles and three RBIs.

Hanna Zollinger led Woodmore (12-2 overall, 7-1 NBC) with four singles. Erica Moore, Christina Cleveland and Kaitlin Gonyer all had singles for the Redmen (4-11, 0-5).
