Prep Baseball Roundup: Errors prove costly for Trojans

TOLEDO — Errors were costly for Findlay High School’s baseball team Monday night as the Trojans dropped a 5-1 Three Rivers Athletic Conference game to Toledo St. John’s.
Desmond Lino (2-4) was the loser on the hill as he allowed five runs, just one earned, on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Dakota Feay finished the final two innings for the Trojans (12-10 overall, 7-3 TRAC).
Grant Akin doubled and singled, Connor Curlis singled and Michael Roche drove in a run to lead Findlay at the plate.
Chandler Dippman doubled and singled and Devon Garcia added a pair of singles for the Titans (16-1, 9-0).
The Trojans finished second in the TRAC South Division and will play the third place team in the North Division in the opening-round of the TRAC tournament one week from today.
But first, Findlay will host Bowling Green at 5 p.m. Thursday in a Division I sectional final at Flag City Memorial Field.

GLANDORF — Ottawa-Glandorf’s Cardiac Kids did it again on Monday, manufacturing a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and holding on for a 1-0 win over Archbold in nonleague baseball action.
It was the second straight 1-0 win for O-G and its third one-run victory in the past week. The Titans have won 12 of their last 13 games to improve to 18-4. Archbold fell to 17-7.
With Austin Verhoff pitching a two-hit shutout, Ottawa-Glandorf’s Ben Dietering drew a one-out walk in the sixth. Pinch runner Ryan Mass stole second, took third on a wild pitch and scored after being caught in a rundown.

LIMA — Lima Bath scored in each of the first four innings to build a 6-3 advantage and plated two more in the sixth to defeat Liberty-Benton 8-3 in a nonleague game Monday.
Colin Gossard notched a pair of doubles and two RBIs, Nate Heffner tallied three singles, while Eric Jordan and Cam Clark each finished with a double, a single and an RBI for Bath (19-8).
Jared Neiling doubled and drove in a run and Wyatt Young added a single and an RBI for the Eagles (19-4).

Alex Theis had two hits and Jake Dryfuse and Aaron Acree added RBI singles for New Riegel (11-9, 4-3 MAL).

UPPER SANDUSKY — Galion scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 3-3, but Upper Sandusky got two in the bottom of the inning to steal a 5-3 North Central Conference victory on Monday.
Alex Kenner homered, singled twice and drove in a pair of runs, Sam Plott added two singles and two RBIs and Andre Myers notched a single and an RBI for the Rams (15-8, 10-4 NCC).
Nick Flowers singled and drove in all three runs for Galion (18-6, 10-4).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Wynford put six runs on the board in the top of the first inning and the Royals wrapped up an outright North Central Conference baseball championship on Monday with an 11-6 win over Riverdale.
Alex Crall and Mason Davis had three hits each and Gage Roe had a pair of doubles for Wynford. Logan Leitzy improved to 6-0, allowing five hits and four runs as the Royals (14-7, 12-2 NCC) finished league play one game ahead of Galion (18-5, 10-3).
Grant Loveridge had two two-run doubles and Tyler Miller had a pair of singles for Riverdale (5-16, 2-11 NCC).

Mason McWilliams added a double and a single for the Tigers, while Jake Nagel hit a pair of singles and Alex Scheiber tripled. Drewe Tipple had a double and both Ethan Caudill and Joe Roth singled.
Trent Whetsel had the lone hit for the Mohawks (2-21 overall, 0-8 MAL) and Zac Dixon took the loss on the mound.

Reid Rennolet finished with three singles and an RBI, Clay Pittman doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Logan Dickerson added a pair of singles and an RBI for the Rams.
Patrick Henry (17-8) got two doubles, a single and an RBI from Joey Nickels, while Brad Breece and Kollin Spence each notched a pair of singles.
