Prep Baseball Roundup: McComb edges O-G in extras

McCOMB — Caden Schroeder’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning brought in the game-winning run as McComb knocked off Ottawa-Glandorf 6-5 on Monday in a nonleague baseball game.
Mitch Schroeder (2B, HR) and Clay Grubb (1B, 2B) drove in two runs each for McComb.
The Panthers went ahead 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, then rallied after O-G tied the score in the top of the seventh.
Tyler Zender had three base hits and Austin Williams and Ben Dietering had a double, a single and two RBI each for O-G.
McComb (20-3) will take on Arcadia at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in a Division IV district semifinal at Findlay High School.
Ottawa-Glandorf (19-6) faces St. Henry in a Division III district semifinal Thursday at Ohio Northern University.

LEIPSIC — Arlington used a two-out two-run rally in the top of the eighth inning to come away with a 6-4 win over Leipsic on Monday in the final Blanchard Valley Conference game of the season for both teams.
Jordan Freed started the winning rally with a two-out double in the eighth inning. Tyler Richards, who hit a solo home run earlier in the game, was intentionally walked and both scored on a throwing error.
Nick Affholder got the win on the mound and starred at the plate as well, lining a double and three singles for Arlington. Justin Rice had a double and two base hits as the Red Devils finished third (7-2) in the BVC standings.
Arlington, 18-5 overall, will face Carey (6-13) in a Division IV district semifinal on Wednesday at Findlay High School.
Neil Haselman had a double and a single and Justin Ellerbrock and Logan Selhorst had two base hits each for Leipsic (9-17, 5-4 BVC).

DOLA — Arcadia junior Dylan Conine picked up his first career varsity win on the mound, working in relief of Garrett Enders, as the Redskins dropped Hardin Northern 5-2 in Blanchard Valley Conference action Monday.
Chad Baker recorded three singles and Myles Monday added a single and an RBI for Arcadia, which improved to 6-15 overall and 2-7 in the BVC.
Jacob Gossard finished with a double, while Collin Hoffman and Bradlee Watts each had a single and an RBI for Hardin Northern (0-19, 0-9 BVC).

PEMBERVILLE — Elmwood managed only three hits against Eastwood on Monday, but didn’t even need one to score the winning run in a 3-2 Northern Buckeye Conference win over the Eagles.
With the score knotted 2-2, Tayte Lentz walked leading off the seventh, and Phillip Buckingham sacificed him to second. Dylan Hall and Jacob Wise also walked to load the bases.
Tayle was out at the plate on a failed suicide squeeze. But an error on Brett Jones grounder to third brought in the go-ahead run and Buckingham, who had come on in relief in the fifth inning, nailed it down from there.
Elmwood (11-12, 4-6 NBC) will host Fostoria in an NBC game today, then travel to Defiance on Thursday to take on NBC champion and state-ranked Lake (22-2) in a Division III district semifinal.

MILLER CITY — Ayersville plated one run in the top of the first inning, but Miller City answered with seven in a four-inning span to defeat the Pilots 7-1 in a nonconference contest Monday.
Adam Drummelsmith picked up the win on the mound, while aiding his own cause with two singles at the plate.
Jared Fuka doubled and singled and Ross Lehman added a double for the Wilcats (18-6).
Jacob Kahle finished with a double and a single and Zach Clark notched a pair of singles for Ayersville.

Max Stambaugh singled twice and drove in a pair of runs, while also earning the win on the mound by allowing one earned run in seven innings of work.
Travis Watkins contributed a single and two RBIs, Adam Purdy added two singles and Austin Morrison doubled for Elida (12-16).
Kyler Seemann doubled, singled drove in two runs and Logan Ziegler finished with two singles and an RBI for Patrick Henry (18-9).

OLD FORT — New Riegel went ahead of Old Fort with a four-run fourth inning, then run-ruled the Stockaders with an eight-run fifth in chalking up a 14-3 Midland Athletic League baseball win on Monday.
Michael Kirian (2-2B) and Alex Theis (2-1B) drove in three runs each for New Riegel (13-10, 5-4 MAL).
Austin Mahias also had two hits and pitched a three-hitter to earn the win.

NORTH BALTIMORE — North Baltimore broke a close game wide open with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and rolled to a 9-1 nonleague baseball win over Vanlue.
Winning pitcher Jacob Frost had two hits and drove in two runs for the Tigers (11-14).
Zach Stewart, Brock Boyer and Garrett Boyer also had two hits each.
Nick Hagerty doubled and had two singles for Vanlue (5-15).
