ADA — St. Henry scratched out a run in the fourth inning and held off Ottawa-Glandorf for a 2-1 win in a Division III district baseball semifinal at Ohio Northern’s Wander Field on Thursday.
The Titans got their only run of the game in the second inning. Ben Deitering was hit by a pitch to start the inning. He went to second on a sacrifice by Drew Schierloh before being lifted for pinch runner Ryan Maas. Tanner Schimmoeller singled home Maas on the first pitch he saw from St. Henry starter Ryan Mikesell to give the Titans a 1-0 lead.
St. Henry knotted the game at 1-1 in the third. Brian Kremer drew a one-out walk and stole second. He came home on an RBI single to left off O-G’s Schimmoeller by Andrew Lundvall.
St. Henry got what was ultimately the game-winning run in the fourth without a ball leaving the infield.
Garrett Stout had a one-out single to shortstop to start the rally. Schimmoeller fanned Mikesell for the second out but back-to-back walks to Jason Jacobs and DJ Kunkler loaded the bases.
Stout scored the winning run on a balk to give St. Henry it’s 2-1 margin.
Ottawa-Glandorf (19-8) did have a chance to tie the game in the seventh.
Matt Warnecke smashed a one-out double. Pinch runner Trevor Schroeder went to third on a groundout by Chandler Kersh. Andrew Wischmeyer’s ground out to the pitcher ended the game.
Mikesell went seven innings allowing one run on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts to raise his record to 7-0. Schimmoeller allowed four hits in six innings with three walks and four strikeouts in taking the loss for the Titans.
St. Henry (26-3) advances to play Coldwater, a 5-0 winner over Parkway in the other semifinal, for the district title at Ohio Northern Saturday at 2 p.m.

NORTH ROBINSON — Michael Kirian recorded 11 strikeouts in his three-hitter and Austin Mathias doubled and racked up four RBIs to lead New Riegel to a 12-2 Division IV district semifinal win over Mohawk in six innings on Thursday at Colonel Crawford High School.
New Riegel (14-10) advances to face Seneca East (24-2) in today’s 5 p.m. district final at Colonel Crawford. The Tigers, the top-ranked team in Division IV blanked Crestline 8-0 in its semifinal win.
Kirian (7-2) allowed just two earned runs and five walks and also hit a double as the Blue Jackets out hit the Warriors 13-3.
New Riegel led 3-2 after four innings before tacking on nine unanswered runs over the next two innings.
Aaron Acree collected four singles and an RBI while Aaron Reinhart hit three singles.
Jake Dryfuse, Blaine Hughes and Alex Theis each singled and drove in run for the Blue Jackets.
David Dietrich led the Warriors (12-13) with a double.

DEFIANCE — Lake’s Jayce Vancena fired a six-inning no-hitter as the Flyers rolled to an 11-1 Division III district semifinal baseball win over Elmwood Thursday at Defiance.
The Flyers (25-3) advance to play Archbold-Genoa in Saturday’s 2 p.m. district final at Defiance. Elmwood dropped to 12-13.
Vancena, who has already signed to play at the University of Michigan, allowed a single run in the fourth while striking out nine Elmwood batters to get the win.
Trevor Solether took the loss as he went the first 3 1/3 innings as the Flyers racked up a 7-1 lead through four innings. Nolan Kerr finished up for the Royals.
Cody Witt had a pair of singles and a double and Conner Bowen added a homer, double and single for Lake.

ROSSFORD — Fostoria jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings, compiled 11 hits and played error-free defense en route to a 12-4 victory against Rossford in Northern Buckeye Conference play Thursday.
Hunter Abell doubled and singled, Robby Crotty added a pair of singles, while Sethe Daughterty and Donovan Vogel each doubled for the Redmen (15-11, 4-7 NBC).
Rossford fell to 7-15 overall and 2-10 in the NBC.
