ARLINGTON — Liberty-Benton’s Adam August earned medalist honors to help the Eagles’ boys golf team open its season with a second-place showing at the Liberty-Benton Invitational Wednesday at Sycamore Springs Golf Club.
August fired a 33-40—73 for his winning round as Lima Central Catholic edged the Eagles 323-324 for first place in the team standings. Van Buren (343) was fifth, Arlington (348) sixth and McComb (366) ended up 10th in the 12-team field.
Sophomore Elliott Logsdon shot an 80, Kaiden Robinson fired an 83 and Tyson Neiling chipped in an 88 for the Eagles.
Britton Jackson fired an 82 to lead Van Buren. Brandon Wehrle (84), Hunter Foltz (87) and Cole Ohlrich (90) finished the scoring for the Black Knights. Arlington got an 80 from Cody Rettig as Cole Thomas (86), Michael Bils (87) and Zac Durliat (95) also played for the Red Devils.
McComb’s Cody Franks and Drew Siferd both shot an 85. Anthony Thepsourinthone (95) and Ryan Wenzinger (101) finished the scoring for the Panthers.
August and runner-up Trevor Dominique (73) from Wauseon highlighted the all-tournament team. Lima Bath’s Evan Hall (77), Lima Central Catholic’s James Riepenhoff (77) and Liam Stolly (78) and Lake’s Ian Johnson (77) also made the list.
