08-11-12 Prep Golf Roundup: McComb, Mohawk win invitational titles

NORTH BALTIMORE — Drew Siferd fired a 41 on the front and followed with a 41 on the back for an 82 to lead McComb to the team title at Monday’s Elmwood Royal Invitational at Birch Run Golf Course.
The Panthers topped runner-up Lakota 342-350 for the team title. Hopewell-Loudon (353), Fostoria (365), Fostoria St. Wendelin (367), Arcadia (371) and Elmwood (403) followed.
Cody Franks (84), Anthony Thepsourinthone (85) and Drew Bryan (91) backed Siferd for the Panthers.
Just three players in the field posted sub-80 rounds. Defending Division II state girls champ Makayla Dull of Lakota shot a 75 to edge Hopewell-Loudon returning Division III boys state qualifier Bryce Gorrill (76) for medalist honors. Fostoria’s Trey Yates was third in the medalist standings with a 79.

Mohawk wins at Bucyrus
BUCYRUS — Mohawk’s Brayden Dunlap and Chet Margraf finished 1-2 in the individual standings to lead the Warriors to the championship at the Bucyrus Elks Invitational on Monday.
Mohawk topped Upper Sandusky 351-352 for the team championship.
Dunlap fired a 78 to win the tournament for the second straight year. Margraf was next with an 84. Carson Weinandy (91) and Bill Dunlap (98) completed the scoring for the Warriors.
No information on Upper Sandusky’s golfers was submitted.

Findlay girls 13th
GAHANNA — Suzanne Short shot a 92 to lead Findlay High School’s girls golf team to a 13th place finish out of 16 teams at the Gahanna Lincoln Invitational.
Jordan Whitman (98), Jackie Fontana (99) and Kaelyn Kouns (103) completed the scoring for Findlay as the Trojans finished with 392 strokes.
