VAN BUREN — When Van Buren scored, the Black Knights scored in bunches in chalking up a 4-0 win over Bowling Green in boys soccer action on Friday.
Ryan Turner broke a 0-0 tie with two goals in the first six minutes of the second half. With 14 minutes left, Turner and Trenton Boyette scored goals in an 83-second span.
Turner assisted on Boyette’s goal as he figured in all four scores. J.J. Mowery had two assists and goalie Nathan Maynard made seven saves for the Knights (1-1).

Kalida blanks Defiance
DEFIANCE — Kalida’s Grant Unverferth and Luke Langhals each scored two goals as the Wildcats’ boys soccer team opened their season with a 7-0 win over Defiance on Friday.
Devin Kortokrax, Austin Swift and Ryan Siefker each added a goal for the Wildcats (1-0). Kalida goalkeeper Brent Hovest had two saves and the Wildcats outshot Defiance 22-3.

Heritage Christian rolls
Megan Ridenour hammered nine kills and Elie Wright had six on Friday in powering Heritage Christian to a 25-18, 25-16, 25-16 nonleague volleyball win over the Marion Hearts Towards Home Lady Hawks.
Sarah Wright and Hannah Berry added four kills each for the unbetaen Minutemen (2-0), who open Buckeye Christian School Association play Tuesday when they travel to Bucyrus Wayside Christian.
