Volleyball Roundup: State-ranked Leipsic drops Defiance

LEIPSIC — Kelly Nadler put away 19 kills and added 11 digs as state-ranked Leipsic rolled past Defiance 25-16, 25-12, 25-12 in a nonconference matchup Tuesday.
The Vikings (7-0), ranked 8th in Division IV, also got 36 assists on 74 of 75 setting and six digs from Emily Ellerbrock, while Brooke Gerdeman notched seven kills, Shalynn Morman recorded 13 digs, was 10 of 10 serving and tallied three kills to give coach Brent Newell his 100th career win as a head coach.

Shelby Kin was 19 of 19 spiking with 14 kills as well for the Blue Devils (5-2, 2-2 N10), while Sydney Kin added four blocks.
Crestline fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the N10.

UPPER SANDUSKY — Jessi Holly had nine kills, five aces on 24-for-24 serving and 11 digs to lead state-ranked Upper Sandusky past Seneca East in dominating style 25-2, 25-9, 25-10 in Northern 10 Conference play.
Kalene Johnson matched Holly with nine kills and added three blocks for Upper Sandusky (5-1, 4-0 N10), which is ranked No. 4 in the current Division III Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
Taven Wentling finished with 13 assists and Emma Smith added 11 for the Rams.

BUCYRUS — Ali Konkle registered 26 digs, 11 kills, four aces and a block, but Wynford rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Mohawk 21-25, 25-28, 25-18, 25-17, 15-13 in Northern 10 Conference play Tuesday.
Sheyanne Wilhelm finished with 10 digs, nine aces and eight kills, Stacy Clouse handed out 34 assists to go with two blocks, MacKenzie Sowers tallied 25 digs and Mya Morris put away eight kills for the Warriors (4-1 overall, 3-1 N10).

VAN WERT — Lexie Thorbahn converted 66 of 75 setting attempts and dished out 16 assists, but it wasn’t enough for Van Wert, which lost a nonconference match to Van Wert, 25-23, 25-23, 25-14.
Chelsey Boecker was perfect, converting all 14 serve attempts, including four aces, for Ottoville (3-3).
Annie Lindeman had eight kills and C.J. Kemper finished with five, while Bridget Landin recorded six blocks for the Big Green.

LIMA — Abbie Dauterman finished with 16 kills and was 9 of 10 serving with six aces to lead Arcadia past Lima Temple Christian 25-13, 25-17, 25-13 in nonconference action.
Maddie Mock recorded 19 points and four aces on 22 of 24 serving, Haley Kieffer was 59 of 62 setting with 37 assists and Molly Glick tallied 10 kills, three digs and a solo block for the Redskins (5-2).
Temple Christian was led by Lynnea Clay’s six kills, while Kara Brown added five digs and four kills and Kaitlyn Sutton contributed eight digs, five assists and three aces.

Jennah Wilson had 20 assists for the Royals (4-3, 2-1 NBC). Sarah Williams had eight digs and Lindsay George six kills.
Otsego is 5-1, 3-0 NBC.

NEW RIEGEL — State-ranked New Riegel pushed its volleyball record to 6-1 on Tuesday, but the 11th-ranked Blue Jackets needed five sets to finally get past Tiffin Calvert 25-10, 25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 15-11 in a nonleague battle.
Senior standouts Kara Scherger and Taylor Arbogast came up big for New Riegel, especially at the net. Scherger was 56 for 62 spiking with 26 kills and 34 digs; Arbogast was 65 for 69 spiking with 23 kills and 24 digs.
The Bouillon sisters set the table for Scherger and Arbogast. Lindsay Bouillon, a freshman, was 94 for 94 setting with 33 assists and 19 digs.
Leah Bouillon, a junior, was 25 for 25 setting with eight assists, 10 for 10 spiking with six kills and had 17 digs.

Lili’ana Velazquez was 16 of 18 serving with 18 points, Alexzandra talley finished 14 of 15 serving with 15 points and four aces to go along with 10 digs and four kills and Karly Renz added 17 digs for Fostoria (1-4 overall, 0-3 NBC).
