HOUGHTON, Mich. -- Michigan Tech converted 9 of 10 free-throw attempts in the last two minutes of play Thursday night and posted a 58-55 victory over the University of Findlay in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball action.
The Huskies shot a miserable 28 percent from the field, but grabbed an unbelievable 24 offensive rebounds and had a 47-30 margin on the glass in the game. Tech was also 23 of 31 shooting at the charity stripe.
UF built a 46-42 lead with five minutes left in the game on a Lacey Kessler field goal and a bucket and free throw by Tai Dotson. The Oilers then led 51-49 on Kaitlyn Nelson's jumper.
But Tech (14-5, 9-4 GLIAC) salted away the win at the free throw line, getting a 20-point, 16-rebound performance from Lindsey Lindstrom.
Lynn Giesler added 15 points and Krista Kasuboski 12.
UF (12-8, 6-7) was led by Nelson's 14 points with Kessler adding 10 in a reserve role. Kayla Brown had a team-high six rebounds.
Findlay now plays at Northern Michigan (9-11, 5-8) at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Wildcats beat Wayne State 70-69 Thursday.
