I have several thoughts regarding Tiger's statement regarding his infidelity, rehabilitation, and return to golf...1. Tiger Woods offered significantly more apology than I thought he would. He seemed to be contrite, humble, and essentially throwing himself on the mercy of the court of public opinion.2. Tiger admitted he felt "entitled" to his indescretions. This is an attitude that many public figures have - but few admit to.3. Tiger admitted that he had strayed from his religion - and discussed his regaining his Budhist faith. 4. Tiger strongly defended his family and their privacy.Lets face it - Tiger put himself and his family/friends in this position. He has gone from being an icon to a joke. However, I believe Tiger handled himself well today - and I think his message was sincere. I agree with him that a detailed public accounting of his infidelity is not necessary. I don't want to see him sitting on Oprah's couch crying. I want to see him doing exactly what he is doing - getting help, getting his family in order and then, if he wants to - getting back to dominating the PGA Tour. |
