It's the first night of the high school football season and we'll have the latest on all of the grid action from around the region for you tonight here at The Courier. Findlay High School opens its season on the road with a nonconference game at Anthony Wayne. Courier writer Dave Hanneman will be covering the game which will be broadcast on 1330 AM WFIN and streamed live on WFIN.com. Courier writer Ted Radick will be covering one of the area's oldest opening-game rivalries as Pandora-Gilboa makes the short trip down State Route 12 to take on Columbus Grove. Andrew Williams will be at Carey's CD Wentling Field as the Blue Devils host Upper Sandusky in a renewal of their Wyandot County battle. Cory-Rawson will host Bluffton in a game that can be heard live on WXKA.com. Ottawa-Glandorf will hit the road for a nonconference game at Oak Harbor. That game can be heard on 106.3 FM The Fox and will be streamed live on 1063thefox.com. VAN WERT — Ottawa-Glandorf volleyball coach Ann Ellerbrock picked up her 300th career win on Thursday as the Titans handed Van Wert its first loss of the season, 25-21, 25-20, 25-17, in Western Buckeye League action. In her 14th season as head coach, Ellerbrock’s O-G teams have posted a 300-87 overall record. The Titans have won five WBL titles during her tenure. Prep Girls Golf: Elmwood’s Miller medals at NBC shootout

GENOA — Elmwood’s Alexis Miller earned medalist honors with a 39 as the Royals finished second in the first Northern Buckeye Conference girls golf shootout at Chippewa Golf Course on Thursday. Eastwood won the tournament with a 207-213 edge over the Royals. Otsego (216), Genoa (221) and Rossford (226) followed. Genoa’s Rikki Shoemaker was second in the medalist standings five shots back at 44.

Findlay High Roundup: Boys soccer drops Anthony Wayne

Pace Thomas and Jarett Lewis each had a goal and an assist, and Alexander Majors added a pair of assists, as Findlay defeated Anthony Wayne 4-1 Thursday in a nonconference boys soccer game. Findlay jumped to a 2-0 halftime lead behind goals by Thomas at the 37:04 mark, assisted by Lewis, and Levi VanDerMolen at the 26:21 mark, assisted by Thomas. The Trojans (3-0) increased the lead to 3-0 at the 36:48 mark of the second half as Lewis scored on an assist from Majors. Anthony Wayne (1-3-1) got on the board as Evan Black scored on an assist from Chase Mowka with 24:36 remaining, before Findlay iced the game as Taylor Miles scored off a Majors feed with 4:33 remaining. Oregon Clay was third (163), followed by Toledo St. Francis (166), Toledo Central Catholic (172), Fremont Ross (202) and Toledo Whitmer (210). For the Trojans, Spencer Shoemaker shot a 39, and Tyler Parish and Logan Bern each carded 40s. Findlay will compete Saturday in the St. Charles Invitational in Columbus.

ADA — Sierra Carey scored two second-half goals as Upper Sandusky pulled away in the second half to beat Ada 5-1 in North Central Ohio Soccer Association girls soccer action on Thursday. BLUFFTON — Sophomore Phillip Tatarkov found the net three times Thursday as Bluffton blasted Ada 8-0 in a nonconference boys soccer match. Cole Harlow recorded a pair of goals and added two assists, while Adam Wannamacher tallied a goal and an assist for the Pirates (1-1-2).
